Is babywearing safe? What should I pay attention to?

Yes, if you use a suitable carrier and adjust it correctly, babywearing is completely safe. The most important things are to keep the baby's airways clear, ensure a natural orthopedic spread-squat position, and provide stable, snug support.

From what age can I carry my baby?

You can carry your baby from newborn age with several types of carriers.

Nandu carriers suitable FROM NEWBORN AGE:

Nandu buckle carrier (baby buckle carrier – suitable from newborn age, no insert needed!) • Stretchy wrap • Woven wrap • Mei tai • Ring sling

Note: for persistent, chronic back and hip problems, a ring sling is not recommended.

The hip seat carrier is ideal from about 6 months of age, when the baby can stably hold their head and torso.

How long can I carry a baby?

As long as it's comfortable for you and your baby. Carriers can be used up to approx. 20 kg. Many mothers carry their children up to 2-3 years old for shorter or longer journeys, but they can be used up to 4 years old.

Which baby carrier should I choose as a beginner?

If you have a newborn, single-layer newborn buckle carriers, wraps (stretchy and woven), and mei tais offer the softest, most adjustable support.

If the baby is older (6 months+), many choose single-layer toddler buckle carriers or mei tais, or the ManGo hip carrier, due to their quick on and off.

Isn't babywearing too hot? Won't the baby get sweaty?

Nandu baby carriers are made of breathable, Oeko-Tex certified cotton fabric, so they are well-ventilated and help dissipate heat.

It's important to choose a baby carrier that adds minimal layers to the baby in warm weather.

For tie-on and stretchy wraps, it's advisable to use a tying method that covers the baby in 1, or at most 2 layers.
With a ring sling, there is always only 1 layer around the baby.
The newborn buckle carriers and toddler buckle carriers have a single-layer wrap fabric body, making them particularly well-ventilated.

When dressing the baby, always remember that the carrier also acts as an extra "layer."

If you're going out in colder weather, you can also carry the baby under the parent's jacket (a larger size), or you can use a separate babywearing cover or babywearing jacket, so you don't have to overdress the baby in the carrier.

How long can I carry the baby at one time?

There is no strict time limit – you can carry your baby as long as they are comfortable and you don't get tired. Most babies are happy to rest in the carrier for hours.
